Glutathione is synthesized naturally in the body by the liver from the amino acids cysteine, glycine, and glutamate. It helps protect our cells from free radicals, which naturally occur due to chemical processes in the body. Factors like poor nutrition, exposure to environmental toxins, chronic stress, and aging can impact glutathione levels in the body.
