御皇茉莉香米為台中194此品種，為台中農業改良場以台梗四號及台梗九號嫁接而成的品種，匯集台梗四號的香氣、台梗九號的外觀及口感的優越性而成的新品種，改良之後的外觀有泰國秈稻的相似度，口感極為Q軟彈牙，烹煮時所散發出來的香氣隱含著淡淡的茉莉香味，是故御皇米把台中194香米暱稱為茉莉香米。

Tenno Premium Jasmine Rice is a Taichung No. 194 crop which is a hybrid from Basmati Type 3 and Taiken No. 9.  This unique crop has the appearance of Thai Jasmine rice yet contains the texture and flavor of the traditional japonica rice.
